Pastry Wednesday: Gourmandise's Pear Almond Tarts and two new members

We are excited to invite two new members to Pastry Wednesday this week!  Yay!  When we commenced Pastry Wednesdays, people starting coming out of the woodwork who were also big fans of pastries and wanted to join.

Fine with us!  That means there are more of us sleuthing out good pastries in the area!

Without further ado, I'd like to introduce Mr. Blenderhouse...

...and Colonel Mustard.

Colonel Mustard is elusive. But he loves his pastries.

Mr. Blenderhouse has been a guest taster in the past, but is now officially in.  He volunteered to bring something his first week and started out strong with Gourmandise.

Look at these beautiful Pear Almond Tarts!

Five tarts for five members of Pastry Wednesday

Being a chocolate girl, I've over-looked the fruit desserts at Gourmandise.  After these pear tarts, I think I need to rethink my strategy.

Gourmandise Pear Tart

The crust was thicker and crispy.  A lot of butter was used--I am sure of it.  It was that good.

This crust was the best!

Each pie crust was filled with almond cream.  Almond and pear--who woulda thunk!  Not too almond flavor to over-power the pear, which was at the perfect ripeness.

The almond cream--ah!

And they were cooked to this beautiful, delicious golden brown.

Look at that crust!

I am sold!

The chocolate-lover savoring a fruit tart--weird, huh?
