30-Day Challenge: Read the Book of Mormon

Friends, it's time for another 30 day challenge! Wahoo!

Last month's challenge of cleaning and purging and minimizing and decorating was awesome! We didn't get everything done we wanted to get done (yeesh--that office!), but there was plenty of cleaning and purging done and it feels so good. We acquired some great art too and it's getting framed right now (love!).

This month's challenge has a bit to do with what's happening next month. Lee and I are helping in June as leaders for our church's 4-day youth conference, The Journey. The Journey is based on the Book of Mormon, and everyone involved--youth, leaders, volunteers--is encouraged to read the entire Book of Mormon before mid-June.

I read/study the Book of Mormon daily, but I want to read it in a concentrated span of time for this challenge. I like reading it quickly every so often--it's good to see the over-arching themes that are sometimes not as evident when you take it a slowly.

One of the things that we'll be doing at youth conference is leading discussions with our youth group, helping our kids "liken" the scriptures to their lives. As part of the 30-Day Challenge, we'll be preparing thoughts, stories, and ideas to share with them, so hopefully they'll be able to use apply the scriptures for their profit and learning too!

"And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning." 1 Nephi 19:23

If you'd like to join me for this month's challenge, yay! If you need a Book of Mormon, let me know. Here's a cute bookmark that the blog Someone in Mind put together that breaks down how much we'll read each day. It's totally doable!

Okay, let's get reading and likening!
