I cannot tell a lie...

I'm a lumberjack, and I'm okay.
I sleep all night and I work all day!
What's more manly than chainsaws and puff pastries?

V is for Victory!

Lee with Z, both sporting manliness on the top of their heads!

Bruce Campbell even got in on the action today

Have a great Saturday! And be careful with your chainsaws!

U2, meet MacGuyver: Earplug Tutorial

We went to the U2 concert on Tuesday night.  We had a couple extra tickets so we invited Thing 2 and The Ballerina to come hang out since they both like U2 and The Fray.

One word to describe it all: AH-MAZ-ING! The concert was crazy good and lots of fun--U2's music is even better live and they played a good mix of their old and new stuff. The crowd was electric--we did the wave while waiting between sets and the crowd was on their feet the entire concert when U2 finally came on.

And man, the lighting and sound...I don't have words for the sheer awesomeness of that stage!  At one point in the concert, I realized Lee wasn't really dancing or clapping or anything--he was just gazing at The Claw, mesmirized with the ginormous screen, which is made up of smaller elongated honeycomb-shaped screens.  Throughout the show, these screens would expand and collapse along a scaffolding skeleton.  Pure engineering genius!

The Fray

Despite all of our preparation with coats and blankets and ponchos (yes, it's been raining a lot in Utah), we completely forgot to bring ear plugs.

The Rapturous Ogden Marathon

(Friends, I have a couple of movies you need to play while reading this post--it will make it more exciting.)

Cue YouTube Video #1: R.E.M's "It's the end of the world as we know it."

A few months ago, I was invited by my sister*, we'll call her the Redhead, to run a relay leg in the Ogden Marathon.  Sure, that would be grand, I said. I also invited my cross-country-running sister-in-law, Thing 2, to run one of the other legs and she thought it would be peachy.

(*My sister is married to the Redhead's husband's brother.  But we knew each other before everyone married each other, so we just call each other sisters!)

Can you tell the difference?

We need your help, people.

We're having another argument.

Can you tell me what this is?

Because of Her

Mother's Day is usually a different kind of day for me.  My mom has been gone for over 22 years now--she died of cancer when I was 10 years old.

It usually is a day that I look back on how she influences my life, even though my memories of her are fewer than I'd like them to be.

Isn't she beautiful?

Wow!  Strong work to all those who went out on a limb and did something for their wedding that was unique and personal.

Hearing about all the creativity out there is inspiring--we love creative people!

Games We Play: The Year's Best Reception + Contest

We get invited to quite a few weddings every year--I'm not sure why.  I guess we know a lot of people, but you'd think one day we'd run out of friends and family getting married.

We went to 7 wedding receptions in March.

Yeah...doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon.

Anyway, we appreciate wedding receptions that look and feel and are like the people who are getting married.  Receptions that are a not-your-typical-Utah-wedding-reception line.  Receptions that are fun, stylish, or quirky.

Definitely not a typical Utah wedding!
